The role encompasses technical research, development and direction
and end-to-end management of the project in the areas of budgeting, costing,
planning, resourcing, designing and co-ordinating as well as providing technical
expertise to the project team with analysis, programming, testing and quality
control, through to the implementation and post implementation review. The Technical
Project Manager is a senior member of the company and will contribute to other
initiatives which include but is not limited to business development, marketing,
joint venture projects, system administration, and conference, seminar and meeting
attendance.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Project Management
- Develops scoping documents and specifications
- Develops and maintains project plans with deliverables, responsible parties
and timeframes
- Manages all aspects of the projects
- Sets and updates (if required) the production schedule and manages with
assistance from the Account Manager
- Provides early-warning communication to company management
- Participates in client meetings and teleconferences as required
- Responsible for the management of the technology team and provides overall
leadership
- Motivates the project team with a specific focus on cost, time, quality
and risk minimisation
- Communicates on a daily basis with team members to ensure a common approach
to the delivery of solutions
- Identifies, develops and implements new or enhanced project management
procedures and systems
- Responsible for currency and accuracy of project data within the project
management system
Technical Direction

Defines programming methodology for projects

Understands coding, programming and database design

Coordinates quality assurance testing prior to release

- Responsible for the management of the technology team and provides overall leadership
The
Technical Project Manager will provide technical leadership and production culminating
in exceptional project delivery to SM2 Customers. The Technical Project Manager oversees and manages all facets
of the project.
Competencies and Experience
Required
- 2+ years experience in a Technical Lead role or Project/Account Management
role
- A team player with a strong customer service focus and experience dealing
with clients
- Proven background in delivering successful projects - skills in planning,
costing and scheduling
- Proven experience with system design and implementation
- Highly developed communication skills to influence and gain cooperation
with team members, contractors and clients
- Excellent oral and written communication at all levels
- Ability to calmly and confidently communicate and manage effectively under
pressure
- Going the extra mile to get things done
Preferred
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in IT, Computer Science, Business, Multimedia
- Solid or understanding of web programming using PHP, MySQL, ASP.Net, MS SQL, VBScript, Javascript, HTML/DHTML, XML
- Self-motivated, methodical approach, process-oriented, problem solver,
sense of humour
- Ability to spot opportunities and convert into revenue
- Experience maintaining and modifying code of software applications
- Show an appreciation of Futurama and Family Guy and Friday Beer O'Clock
