...the best thing about SM2 is it enables me to send emails to groups of users based on their access level, and I can sent to multiple Access Level groups at the same time. It is fast, has throttling for those that need it, the templates are workable and fully customizable. It has no problem sending Joomla content items including items with tags, a necessity for me. It has statistics so you can see who is reading what. It also has bounce processing if you have IMAP setup... It is a very functional and complete solution... it will be completely complete. It is not Free, but it is not expensive. And, support is excellent. I tried Acjoom, letterman, Yanc, and some other I don't remember. SM2 combines my most favored aspects of all three, and then some. If you need a reliable email sender I highly recommend SM2 Email Marketing.
