 SM2 Email Marketing is easy to install on your Joomla site. If you do not have Zend Optimizer or ionCube PHP Loader installed then follow the Pre-Installation Step, otherwise see the Component Installation below as well.
Pre Installation Step (if Zend Optimizer or IonCube PHP Loader is not installed)
- Contact your hosting provider andsee if they will install Zend Optimizer, or
- Download the ionCube PHP Loader appropriate for your server. We recommend downloading on of the zipped versions, not the installer, unless you have access to install software on your server.
If using the installer see the instructions on the ionCube website.
- Extract the zip file to somewhere on your PC
- Upload the resulting ioncube folder to the root of your Joomla site. Include the folder as well as the files.In most cases ionCude PHP Loader should now work.
Component Installation
It installs just like any other Joomla Component...
- Log into the Joomla Administration
- Go to Installers -> Components
- Under "Upload Package File" click Browse and browse to the component install file
i.e. sm2emailmarketing.1.0.4.0.tar.gz
- Click the "Upload File and Install" button
- After installation you will be given the option to install some Demo Data
- Finally you need to go to the Configuration and enter your Licence Key. Until the Licence Key is entered, only Help and the Configuration screens are available.
- Start emailing your subscribed users and keeping in contact with your community.
Updating
To update the component...
- Download the latest update file, named sm2emailmarketing.update.x.y.z.tar.gz (where x.y.z is the latest version number) from the Freebies / SM2 Email Marketing section of the site.
- Unzip the file somewhere locally
- FTP all folders and files into the root of your Joomla Site.
- Recommended to then log in to the Admin of the site and go to the SM2 Email Marketing Help page. This will ensure that any database changes required are actioned.
Please Note:
- This file contains all of
the SM2 Email Marketing files in the exact file and folder structure
they should be on a pre-existing installation. Using this method of
upgrading it should overwrite the existing files.
- If using FTP to copy the files to your Joomla! site you must ensure that the following files are copied in BINARY mode:
- administrator/components/com_sm2emailmarketing/licence.ioncube.php
- administrator/components/com_sm2emailmarketing/licence.zend.php
- administrator/components/com_sm2emailmarketing/decoder.php
Check your FTP client documentation for instructions on how to switch to BINARY mode.
