Re:Could not instantiate mail function. - 2009/01/22 17:35 There are 2 potential causes of this

1. You Joomla! Mail settings may be mis configured. Consult your hosting provider for the optimal settings for your server.

2. Your server may be overloaded and unable to connect to the mail server to send a message. Consult your hosting provider about this issue as well.

Re:Could not instantiate mail function. - 2009/01/23 01:02 SM2 Email Marketing uses the Joomla! core mail functions.
If it is not working it is always an issue either with you Joomla! configuration or your email server.

In our experience "Could not instantiate mail function" is always a result of the PHP code being unable to connect to the email server for some reason, and the usual cause of this is that the mail server is either busy or has shutdown.

This forum is not for support so if you are having an issue please log a ticket in our helpdesk http://sm2extensions.com/helpdesk/, however you should look into any issues with your server first as that is the most likely cause.

Check that your server is not under load and also check that you have not exceeded any email limits that may be on the server.

Re:Could not instantiate mail function. - 2010/08/30 23:52 If you've just imported a csv file, also check that the options selected in the drop-down menu actually matched the headings in the csv file. I just found that when I Browsed to the csv file (via Import List Subscribers) and clicked Next, the Email field by default was actually pointed to the Name Field in the csv file. If you miss this, SM2 will look the Name column for the email, which can result in this error. Lime Dezign
