HTML as default for Joomla users - 2009/03/13 23:27 I have 14,000+ Joomla members I am about to start emailing, but they are all set to text instead of HTML by default. This is no good, because I purchased this product so I could start email marketing. How can I begin email marketing if nobody can receive my affiliate links?

How can I set the default mode to HTML? It would also be nice to give them the option to switch to text, but not necessary as I can always put at the top of the email, "If you are having trouble reading this you can view a HTML version at -----".

Thanks.

Re:HTML as default for Joomla users - 2009/03/19 19:18 Is there an answer for this? I hope I didn't just spend $80 for nothing. I do not understand why text would be the default setting for an email marketing system.

Is there a database field that I can change, or any way to set the default method to HTML? Please respond, I am waiting to send emails.

Re:HTML as default for Joomla users - 2009/03/19 19:43 G'Day

Please excuse the late reply however we do state in the forum that this is not a support forum. If you need support you should use the helpdesk. http://sm2extensions.com/helpdesk

For various reasons it was decided that the default option for Client Managed (Joomla!) and List Subscribers was to make the receive TEXT rather than HTML.

If you wish to change this you have to modify the database tables to change their default value.

jos_emtkg_user and jos_emktg_subscriber both have a receive_html field which has a default value of 0. This indicates the subscriber is to receive text. If the default value is changed to 1 then new subscribers will recieve HTML.

You will also have to update the existing data.

Please note that this does not in any way effect the SM2 Email Marketing Subscription module as it allows the subscribers to change their receive options by default.

If you attempt to make this change you should be familiar with SQL and confident that you know what you are doing. SM2 Extensions will not provide instruction on how to make this change yourself, nor can we support the system with this change made. If further issues arise after this change has been made we will require the default value to be reset before we offer any further support.

Hope this helps
