 Link tracking and joomla 1.5 compatibility - 2007/05/01 06:29 Hi,

I can see there is no link tracking in this package but has anyone made a plugin to do so? or when will it be released. It is soo important to have link tracking and would love to have it. Only joomla email marketing plugin with click tracking is YANC but this is not joomla 1.5 compatible.

And also when will sm2 be joomla 1.5 compatible?

If anyone can help if would be appreciated. Main question is will the plugin architecture allow me to create link tracking functionality?

 Re:Link tracking and joomla 1.5 compatibility - 2007/05/01 15:46 Unfortunately SM2 Email Marketing does not support link tracking.
We have had this requested as a feature a number of times and we are considering it, although we are actually considering a seperate component to handle this.

It should be possible for SM2 Email Marketing plugins to place or replace links if required so it could be used with a 3rd party link tracker.

SM2 Email Marketing is not Joomla! 1.5 compatible at the moment and we will not be working on converting to 1.5 until Joomla! 1.5 is out of beta.

As stated previously once Joomla! 1.5 out of beta we will evaluate releasing SM2 Email Marketing for it.

However it may not be possible for us to release SM2 Email Marketing for Joomla! 1.5 because they have changed their policy and are not supporting commercial components for Joomla! 1.5

We are however looking at other methods of releasing SM2 Email Marketing so that it can still be run with Joomla! 1.5 and yet not break their restrictions.

 Re:Link tracking and joomla 1.5 compatibility - 2008/01/14 06:33 1.5 is out of beta and has been for a while. Currently at RC4 which means its feature complete and in the process of removing the last few bugs.

A way that we have found to make our components compliant with the 1.5 license is to make them function on their own without the need for joomla, ie, just make a wrapper that sits around your component abd emulates joomla, therefor isnt governed by the Joomla license yet you can still distribute encoded software.
